Welcome to Ames Pet Hospital, a well-established, AAHA-accredited, full-service small animal veterinary hospital located in vibrant Ames, Iowa. We are seeking an experienced DVM to join our team as an Associate Veterinarian, with the option to pursue a Chief of Staff role (with leadership training) for those interested in hospital leadership.

Associate Veterinarian Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced veterinarian with strong clinical skills and a collaborative mindset.

  • Surgery and dentistry experience preferred
  • Passion for high-quality patient care and client communication

Chief of Staff Opportunity

The Chief of Staff plays a key role in both clinical excellence and hospital leadership. We are looking for a veterinarian with strong leadership skills or the desire to grow into a leadership role.

In this role, you would:

  • Oversee the quality of medicine within the practice
  • Support and mentor veterinarians and medical staff
  • Help ensure consistent, high-quality patient care
  • Partner with the Hospital Manager to support hospital performance, efficiency, and financial goals
  • Contribute to training, development, and a positive team culture

We provide leadership training and development, and offer flexibility to:

  • Step directly into the Chief of Staff role, or
  • Start as an Associate Veterinarian and transition into Chief of Staff after 6–12 months

This is an excellent opportunity for a veterinarian looking to expand their impact beyond clinical work and grow into a meaningful leadership position.
